Ratusan mahasiswa baru STAI Ma’arif mengikuti kuliah umum.
JAMBI - STAI Ma'arif Jambi menggelar kuliah umum bagi mahasiswa baru pada Rabu (06/09) kemarin. Kegiatan ini diikuti 200 mahasiswa baru dan dihadiri dosen dilingkungan STAI Ma’arif Jambi.
Ketua STAI Ma'arif Jambi, Dr. H. Imran Nasution, MAg menuturkan bahwa kegiatan ini merupakan kegiatan rutin mengawali perkuliahan bagi mahasiswa baru.
Kali ini pihaknya menghadirkan Komisioner KPU Provinsi Jambi sebagai pemateri kuliah umum dengan tema tentang demokrasi. Dikatakannya, tema yang diusung dalam kuliah umum ini adalah Implementasi Nilai-nilai Demokrasi dalam Mewujudkan Mahsiswa yang Responsif, Nasionalis dan Religius’.
Tujuannya untuk memberikan pemahaman tentang demokrasi kepada mahasiswa baru. Terlebih lagi di kampus juga terdapat hal-hal yang berkaitan dengan demokrasi.
“Melalui kegiatan ini kita harapkan mahasiswa mulai cerdas dalam berdemokrasi, berjiwa nasionalis dan religius agar menjadi orang-orang yang bisa menjadi contoh dalam berdemokrasi,” harap Amran.
Komisioner KPU Provinsi Jambi, Pahmi, Sy, SAg, MSi menekankan peranan mahasiswa dalam melaksanakan penyelenggaraan pemilu yang sehat dan demokrasi. Baik menjadi penyelenggara maupun menjadi agen demokrasi di masyarakat.
“Keterlibatan mereka dalam proses demokrasi itu sangat penting. Apalagi mahasiswa bisa dikatakan sebagai pemilih pemula,” tandasnya.
