KUALA TUNGKAL - Musim kemarau yang terjadi sejak pertengahan bulan juli 2019 lalu, berdampak terhadap penanaman padi di Kabupaten Tanjung Jabung Barat. Penanaman padi yang semula direncanakan pada bulan mei, karena kemarau ditunda hingga bulan september dan oktober 2019 mendatang.
Zainuddin Kepala Dinas Pertanian Tanaman Pangan dan Holtikultura Tanjab Barat mengatakan jika petani di belum dan menunda untuk menanam padi di Tanjab Barat yang rata-rata pertanian pasang surut.
" Karena pasang surut rencana tanam dibulan mei. Tapi karena kodisi seperti sekarang musim kemarau kita tunda," ungkap H. Zainuddin melalui ponsel, Selasa (6/8/2019).
Untuk waktu penanaman padi jelas H. Zainuddin, mungkin nanti dibulan september dan oktober baru petani mulai menanam padi." Memang kalau untuk cuaca ekstrim seperti sekarang, kita sarankan untuk tidak tanam padi," sebutnya.
Zainuddin juga mengatakan mengisi kekosongan lahan menjelang tanam padi, pihaknya menyarankan sebelum bulan september petani menanam palawija dilahan yang akan digarap.
" Menjelang musim tanam padi di september oktober untuk wilayah irigasi kita saran tanam palawija. Seperti yang saat ini di wilayah Kecamatan Bram Itam ada juga petani yang mengisi lahan mereka dengan tanaman jagung," kata H. Zainuddin.
Disinggung bagaimana dengan ketersediaan bibit, H. Zainuddin mengatakan, untuk penyediaan bibit pihaknya akan minta langsung ke Pusat kemudian didistribusikan ke Kelompok Tani khususnya lahan pasang surut seperti di wilayah Kecamatan Pengabuan dan Senyerang Kabupaten Tanjung Jabung Barat.
" Kalau wilayah irigasi seperti di Sri Agung Kecamatan Batang Asam daerah penangkar, biasanya mereka swadaya sendiri untuk bibitnya," jelasnya.
Zainuddin juga menambahkan, jika untuk lahan pertanian di Kabupaten Tanjung Jabung Barat jumlahnya mencapai 9.461 hektar.
" Sekarang ini yang baru mulai melakukan persiapan itu wilayah Sri Agung untuk musim tanam oktober nanti," pungkasnya.
