MUARABULIAN – Selama sembilan bulan, Badan penanggulangan bencana daerah (BPBD) Kabupaten Batanghari mencatat sebanyak 8 unit rumah penduduk di wilayah kabupaten Batanghari, hangus pada bencana kebakaran yang terjadi di beberapa kecamatan. Rata-rata penyebab kebakaran rumah tersebut diakibatkan arus pendek listrik dan kompor.
“Jumlah ini tercatat sejak awal Januari hingga September 2020 ini. Penyebab kebakaran rata-rata diduga akibat arus pendek listrik dan kompor,” kata Kepala BPBD Batanghari, Syar'i Saman melalui Kasi Kedaruratan dan Logistik di BPBD, Makmun SP.di, saat dikonfirmasi harian ini pada Selasa (29/9/2020) kemarin.
Menurutnya, walaupun tidak menyebabkan jatuhnya korban jiwa, tetapi kerugian yang ditanggung korban cukup besar, karena mayoritas korban tidak berhasil menyelamatkan harta bendanya. Bahkan, beberapa kasus kebakaran terjadi pada saat siang hari dan malam hari, atau di saat pemilik rumah sedang tidak berada dirumah.
Informasi dari pihak kepolisian menyebutkan, kebakaran tersebut mayoritas disebabkan oleh hubungan arus pendek atau konsleting listrik, ditambah kondisi permukiman warga yang kering akibat kemarau, sehingga api dengan cepat menjalar ke rumah warga.
Guna meringankan penderitaan para korban, sebagian korban kebakaran sudah mendapatkan bantuan dari Pemerintah Batanghari dan sebagian lagi masih dalam proses.
“Untuk antisipasi terjadinya kembali kasus kebakaran, kami menghimbau terhadap masyarakat untuk selalu siaga dan waspada terlebih musim kemarau,” tambahnya.
