Almarhum menghembuskan napas terakhir ketika masih dalam kondisi berpuasa pada Senin (19/4) sekitar pukul 12/30 WIB,  dalam perjalanan ketika dibawa ke rumah sakit Kol Abundjani Bangko, karena mengalami gangguan pada pernapasan.
‘’Semua sudah ketentuan Allah. Hari ini di bulan yang penuh rahmat beliau (H Hambali) meninggalkan kita semua,’’ ujar Bupati Merangin H Al Haris usai pembacaan Yasin dan Tahlil di rumah duka Jalan Pendidikan Bangko.
Bupati bersama Wabup Merangin H Mashuri dan Pj Sekda H Hendri Maidalef serta seluruh pejabat di jajaran Pemkan Merangin, berduka atas kepergian pejabat yang punya hoby off-road tersebut.
H Al Haris mengajak seluruh masyarakat mendoakan almarhum H Hambali, diterima disisi Allah SWT dan mengampuni semua dosa-dosanya. Keluarga yang ditinggalkan, agar selalu diberi ketabahan dalam menerima cobaan tersebut.
Alharhum H Hambali meninggalkan empat orang anak dan satu orang istri  yang setia terus mendampingi almarhum. ‘’Almarhum merupakan pejabat yang berdisiplin dan berdedikasi tinggi,’’ ujar Wabup Merangin H Mashuri.
Rencananya almarhum akan dikuburkan berdekatan dengan makam orang tuanya di pemakaman keluarga besar Desa Salam Buku Kecamatan Batang Masumai pada Selasa (20/4) pagi hari.
