MERANGIN - Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah (DPRD) Provinsi Jambi melalui Komisi II meminta Dinas Lingkungan Hidup Daerah (DLH) Provinsi Jambi untuk meninjau pengolahan limbah PT. AWI yang berlokasi di Kecamatan Tabir Kabupaten Merangin.
Wakil Ketua Komisi ll DPRD Provinsi Jambi, Rusli Kamal Siregar mengatakan, permintaan itu bukan tanpa alasan. Dari hasil pengamatan pihaknya diduga kuat ada kelalayan atau bahkan kesalahan yang dilakukan PT. AWI.
“Kita minta DLH Provinsi turun ke lokasi untuk mengcek kembali masalah limbah ini,” kata Rusli saat memimpin Komisi ll DPRD Provinsi Jambi melakukan peninjauan ke lokasi PT. AWI, Senin (21/02/2022).
PT. AWI, kata Rusli, diduga kuat tidak melakukakn kewajiban pengelolaan limbah dengan maksimal. Kolam yang seharusnya dijadikan tempat sterilisasi limbah sebelum dibuang ke aliran sungai, terang Rusli, tidak berfungsi dengan baik.
“Setelah kita meninjau ke kolam-kolam pembuangan limbah disitu kita lihat di kolam terakhir itu masih berbau dan lain sebaginya, sehingga kita anggap ini tidak aman kalau dibuang ke aliran sungai,” tutur Ketua DPD PAN Kota Jambi itu.
Bukan hanya itu, lanjut Rusli, pihaknya juga menilai PT. AWI tidak melaksanakan kewajiban terkait administrasi pelaporan secara baik.
Selain pimpinan dan Anggota Komisi ll DPRD Provinsi Jambi, monitoring ini juga didampingi oleh staf sekretariat dan tenaga ahli Komisi.
