Hal tersebut ditegaskan Bupati Merangin ketika membuka membuka acara FGD pemanfaatan dan penggunaan dana afirmasi Kabupaten Merangin terkait perhutanan sosial tahun anggaran 2021-2022 di Aula Merangin Hotel, Senin (14/3/22).
‘’Dana afirmasi pengelolaan hutan itu ada di Kabupaten Merangin. Makanya Kementerian Kehutanan sangat mengapresiasi  ini. Pemanfaatan dana afirmasi ini sangat banyak sekali, semata  untuk kesejahteraan masyarakat,’’ujar Bupati.
Pemkab Merangin lanjut bupati, tidak ingin luas hutannya semakin hari semakin berkurang. Siapa yang mengetahui luas hutan itu semakin berkurang? Tentu yang pertama tahu pihak desa.
‘’Untuk itu saya harapkan kelompok-kelompok pengelola hutan yang ada di desa-desa, hendaknya berjalan dengan baik. Tetlebih sudah mengucurnya dana afirmasi ini,’’harap Bupati.
Kalau hutan-hutan yang ada sekarang ini tidak lagi lestari tegas bupati, bagaimana dengan anak dan cucu kelak. Termasuk isi hutannya juga harus dijaga dengan baik, hewan-hewannya, cadangan airnya dan lainnya.
Melalui dana afirmasi ini, bupati berharap bisa menggairahkan perkembangan Usaha Mikro Kecil Menengah (UMKM), terutama untuk industri-industri kerajinan khas Kabupaten Merangin.
Tampak hadir pada acara itu, Kepala Bappeda Merangin Dr. Agus, Kepala Dinas Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Desa Andre, para kepala desa, para camat, ketua Lembaga pengelola perhutanan sosial  dan para undangan lainnya.
