Hal tersebut dikatakan Pj Bupati Merangin H Mukti  disampaikan Kadis Perpora Merangin Sukoso, saat memantau kondisi GOR tersebut bersama Asisten I Setda Merangin M Sayuti dan Kadis Kominfo M Arief, Selasa (18/6/24).
‘’Alhamdulillah tahun ini kita sudah mendapatkan dana rehap sebesar sekitar Rp 1 miliar untuk rehap GOR ini yang memang kondisinya cukup parah seperti ini,’’ujar Sukoso di depan GOR yang diwarnai coretan-coretan di dinding dan semak belukar.
Dana itu jelas Sukoso akan diperuntukan penanganan sarana dan prasarana terpenting dulu, agar bisa cepat dimanfaatkan. Rehap akan difokuskan pada sarana air bersih, listrik dan perlengkapan-perlengkapan penting  lainnya di dalam gedung.
‘’Untuk pemanfaatan GOR ini kita sudah berkoordinasi dan berkomunikasi dengan cabang-cabang olahraga (Cabor) yang ada. Nanti setelah air dan listrik telah tersedia,  bisa dimanfaatkan oleh Cabor-cabor tersebut,’’terang Sukoso dibenarkan Kadis Kominfo M Arief.
Sedangkan Cabor-cabor yang sudah bersedia memanfaatkan GOR itu setelah dipenuhi kebutuhan air dan listriknya lanjut Sukoso, ada Cabor Pencak Silat, Basket, Futsal, Karate dan Taekwando.
Saat ditanya kapan rehap GOR Merangin itu akan dilakukan? Kadis Parpora Merangin ini menegaskan dalam waktu dekat akan segera dilakukan rehap. ‘’Prosesnya sudah berjalan, pekerjaan fisiknya dalam waktu dekat ini,’’terang Sukoso.
Asisten I Setda Merangin M Sayuti menjelaskan, GOR Merangin ini nantinya benar-benar akan difungsikan sebagai sarana latihan beberapa Cabor yang ada. ‘’Nanti GOR ini juga sudah ada penjaganya, sehingga nanti terjaga dengan baik keamanannya,’’jelas M Sayuti.
Terpisah, sejumlah masyarakat Kabupaten Merangin menyambut gembira atas akan difungsikannya GOR Merangin tersebut. Mengingat sebelumnya GOR itu terkesan terbengkalai tidak terurus dan menjadi sarangnya orang-orang iseng tak bertanggungjawab.
