Dihadapan para wartawan dan sebelum meninggalkan Polres Merangin AKBP Mokhamad Lutfi mengatakan, selama melaksanakan yugas di Merangin sangat terbantu dengan keberadaan media dan berharap begitu pula hendaknya yang akan dilakukan wartawan kepada Kapolres yang baru. “Selama sebelas bulan  menjabat sebagai Kapolres Merangin saya sangat terbantu sekali dengan rekan-rekan media, bahkan banyak informasi yang diberikan oleh media. Pesan saya agar rekan-rekan agar bisa menjalin silaturahmi yang bagus dengan Kapolres yang baru dan apa yang telah diberikan kepada saya juga diberikan kepada beliau," ucap Mokhamad Lutfi.

Sementara Kapolres Merangin yang baru AKBP Irwan Andi Purnamawan mengatakan, akan bekerjasama dengan Pemerintah Daerah dalam upaya memberantas Penambang Emas Tanpa Izin (PETI). “ Penegakan hukum tetap akan kita lakukan namun kita akan bekerjasama dengan pemerintah daerah dan instansi  terkait lainnya untuk mencari pemecahan masalah terhadap keberadaan PETI diwilayah Kabupaten Merangin," ujarnya.

Kapolres Irsan Andi Purnamawan menjawab pertanyaan terkait keterlibatan anggota dalam bisnis PETI mengatakan akan melakukan penegakan hukum dan disiplin kepada anggota yang terlibat. “Nanti kita akan lakukan pemeriksaan kepada anggota yang terbukti terlibat akan kita tindak sesuai dengan aturan yang ada," tegasnya.
