MUAROJAMBI - Selasa (23/2/2021) sekitar pukul 23:57 WIB Tim gabungan TNI-POLRI meninjau area revitalisasi kanal di lahan gambut. Hal ini dilakukan untuk mencegah terjadinya kebakaran hutan dan lahan (karhutla).
"Lahan gambut bilamana terbakar akan sulit dipadamkan. Pencegahan lebih awal dengan merevitalisasi sekat kanal diharapkan akan membasahi lahan gambut dan menjaga tinggi muka airnya sehingga selalu basah," kata kasubag Humas Polres Muarojambi AKP. Amradi kepada media, Selasa (23/2/2021).
Amradi menuturkan, karhutla terjadi karena faktor kesengajaan dan kelalaian manusia.
"Penyebab kebakaran terbesar adalah ulah manusia yang sengaja membakar untuk membuka lahan atau lalai karena memasak saat memancing, mencari madu hutan, atau bahkan oleh pembalak kayu," ujar dia.
Masyarakat dihimbau jangan membakar hutan disengaja maupun tidak yang merugikan massa depan anak cucuk kita kedepan.
Dia menyampaikan, masih adanya kegiatan penebangan hutan secara liar terbukti ketika Kapolres Muaro Jambi AKBP Ardiyanto bersama TNI, Polri, dan BPBD meninjau lokasi sekat kanal lahan gambut yang akan direvitalisasi.
"Patroli menemukan gubuk yang diduga digunakan pembalak kayu, yang melarikan diri ketika melihat petugas datang dari jauh," ucap Amradi.
Amradi menerangkan, untuk menuju lokasi kanal lahan gambut bukanlah hal yang mudah. Tim gabungan harus melewati lahan gambut yang permukaannya labil.
"Lahan gambut cukup berat untuk dicapai, karena di kanal banyak terdapat potongan-potongan kayu, dan kaki akan terbenam bila menginjak lahan gambut. Kanal di lahan gambut menuju ke hulu memiliki elevasi tanah yang berbeda, sehingga untuk mencapai hulu, petugas mesti mengangkat kapal ke kanal yang lebih tinggi. Demikian pula sebaliknya saat akan kembali ke hilir," terangnya.
