Hal tersebut dikatakan H Mashuri pada acara serah terima memori jabatan Bupati Merangin dari H Al Haris kepada Wabup Merangin H Mashuri sebagai pelaksana tugas (Plt) Bupati Merangin, di Auditorium rumah dinas bupati, Sabtu malam (10/7/2021).
‘’Guberbur Jambi kita sekarang ini merupakan anak didik saya ketika di SMA dulu. Beliau memang dikenal ulet dan cekatan selama menjadi anak didik saya sampai menjadi atasan saya,’’ujar H Mashuri disusul tawa oleh H Al Haris dan Forkopimda yang  hadir.
H Mashuri mengaku sangat terharu dan bahagia sekali, atas peristiwa ini. Bahkan Plt Bupati Merangin mengaku tidak bisa mengungkapkan rasa gembiranya itu, karena hati seorang guru akan sangat senang dan bahagia sekali jika anak didiknya berhasil.
‘’Benar ini seperti mimpi saja semua ini. Ketika kita sama-sama menyambut kedatangan Gubernur Jambi dan menjamu makan malam di rumah dinas ini, kok malah kita seperti yang dijamu Pak Bupati, eh salah Pak Gubernur,’’terang H Mashuri disusul tawa tamu yang hadir.
Pada kesempatan itu H Mashuri menegaskan, akan melanjutkan kepemimpinan H Al Haris dengan semaksimal mungkin sesuai kemampuannya, mewujudkan visi misi Merangin Mantap 2023.
‘’Siapapun Bupati Merangin kedepan, saya berharap bisa melanjutkan Merangin Mantap jilid 2,’’tegas Mashuri disambut tepuk tangan meriah dari Gubernur Jambi dan seluruh tamu yang hadir.
