JAMBI – Ketua DPRD Provinsi Jambi Edi Purwanto mengapresiasi kegiatan Karnaval Pekan Rakyat Lingkungan Hidup yang diselenggarakan oleh Walhi Jambi, Minggu (5/6/2022). Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh ribuan siswa mulai dari tingkat SD, SMP, dan SMA sederajat di Kota Jambi. Para siswa melakukan longmarch dengan mengenakan kostum daur ulang dari barang-barang bekas dan sampah plastik.
“Ini luar biasa, Walhi bisa menggerakkan ribuan siswa untuk berkarya, sekaligus peduli lingkungan,” ungkap Edi.
Menurut Edi, DPRD provinsi Jambi sendiri sangat concern terhadap penyelesaian berbagai permasalahan lingkungan yang ada di provinsi Jambi, namun yang tidak kalah penting menurutnya adalah memupuk kesadaran kolektif masyarakat untuk bersama-sama melakukan pencegahan kerusakan lingkungan.
“Yang paling penting adalah ketika ada kesadaran kolektif bersama, saya yakin dan percaya alam kita akan terjaga dengan baik,” ungkap Edi.
Terkait permasalahan lingkungan, Ketua DPD PDI Perjuangan provinsi Jambi ini juga meminta keseriusan eksekutif dan OPD terkait di provinsi Jambi untuk menjalankan regulasi yang ada, termasuk rekomendasi dari DPRD, masyarakat maupun NGO.
“Harapan saya OPD-OPD yang ada di bawah kepemimpinan pak gubernur dapat bekerja dengan cepat dan progressif untuk masyarakat provinsi Jambi,” ucap Edi.
Selanjutnya Edi menyampaikan bahwa pekerjaaan rumah pemprov Jambi untuk permasalahan lingkungan masih cukup banyak, mulai dari pencemaran sungai Batanghari, PETI (Penambangan Emas Tanpa Izin), illegal drilling, illegal logging, illegal fishing dan sebagainya.
“Menurut saya harus ada formulasi dan rumusan khusus untuk mensiasati ini, mencari jalan keluar terbaik bagi persoalan-persoalan di jambi, khususnya permasalahan lingkungan,” pungkasnya. (*)
