MUARABULIAN – Upaya peracunana atau eliminasi terhadap hewan penular rabies (HPR) di wilayah kabupaten Batanghari tahun ini ditiadakan. Pasalnya, dana yang semula telah dianggarkan untuk kegiatan peracunan terhadap HPR tersebut dipangkas.
Dimana dana untuk kegiatan peracunan terhadap HPR tersebut dialihkan untuk penanganan dna pencegahan wabah Covid-19.
Ini diakui Kepala Disbunnak Batanghari, Irwan, A.Md SP melalui Kabid Peternakan dan Kesehatan Hewan, Yannofa, S. ST saat dikonfirmasi media ini pada Selasa (12/5/2020).
“Kegiatan peracunan terhadap HPR tidak ada, karena anggaran untuk peracunan tahun ini dialihkan untuk penanganan Covid-19,” ujar Yannofa.
Seperti diwartakan media ini sebelumnya, lebih kurang 800 ekor Hewan Penular Rabies (HPR) di wilayah kabupaten Batanghari menjadi target sasaran eliminasi Dinas Perkebunan dan Peternakan (Disbunak) kabupaten Batanghari.
Dimana estimasi eliminasi hewan penular rabies di kabupaten Batanghari tahun ini sekitar 800 ekor dengan rencana 12 kali eliminasi atau peracunan di delapan kecamatan dalam kabupaten Batanghari.
Yannofa mengakui, bahwa jadwal peracunan HPR tahun ini mengalami perubahan pola. Dimana polanya bisa siang dan bisa malam. Dengan catatan, siang hari pihaknya hanya melaksanakan vaksin rabies, sementara pada malam hari akan dilakukan eliminasi secara langsung terhadap HPR berkeliaran yang tidak bertuan.
Yannofa mengaku selama satu tahun pihaknya menyediakan umpan HPR sebanyak 1 kilogram. Ia menjelaskan, eliminasi HPR ini dilakukan di kawasan tertentu seperti pemukiman padat penduduk yang tingkat populasi anjing liarnya cukup tinggi, dengan memberikan racun jenis strichnine sulphate.
Eliminasi anjing liar ini juga untuk mengantisipasi adanya warga yang terkena penyakit rabies karena digigit anjing liar dan menghindari terjadinya kecelakaan lalu lintas karena anjing berkeliaran di jalan raya,” ujarnya.
