Dikatakan bupati, Gate Boll merupakan cabang olahraga baru, namun sudah sangat poluler di tengah-tengah masyarakat. ‘’Olahraga ini baru dua tahun lalu diresmikan Menteri PUPR di Jakarta,’’ ujar Bupati didampingi Wabup Merangin H Mashuri.
Olahraga Gate Boll ini lanjut bupati, juga sudah resmi menjadi cabang olahraga nasional yang akan dilombakan pada berbagai event olahraga ditingkat pusat maupun ditingkat daerah.
‘’Mengingat di tingkat Pusat Gate Boll sudah resmi menjadi cabang olahraga nasional, jadi kita di daerah perlu menyiapkan dan memperkenalkan olahraga ini ke masyarakat luas,’’ terang Bupati.

‘’Jadi mulai sekarang kita siapkan atlit-atlit Gate Boll kita, untuk berlaga di Porwil atau di Porprov Jambi mendatang. Mudah-mudahan melalui Turnamen ini akan lahir atlit Gate Boll Merangin yang tangguh,’’ harap Bupati.
Atlit-atlit Gate Boll yang terlahir dari Turnamen yang digelar sambung bupati, nanti akan dibina lebih lanjut dan dimatangkan keahliannya dalam bermain Gate Boll dengan berbagai teori permainan dalam tim.
‘’Kalau kita sudah mempunyai atlit Gate Boll  yang tangguh, pada akhirnya akan membawa nama harum Kabupaten Merangin tingkat Porprov maupun Pekan Olahraga Nasional,’’ tandas Bupati.
