MUARABULIAN – Dinas Tanaman Pangan dan Hortikultura (DTPH) kabupaten Batanghari mengaku saat ini stok racun hama keong mas di gudang Dinas Tanaman Pangan dan hortikultura Batanghari kosong.
Hal ini diakui Kepala Dinas Tanaman Pangan dan Hortikultura Batanghari, Mara Mulya Pane melalui Kabid Prasarana dan Sarana Pertanian, Ir. Darwin Nasution, saat ditemui media ini di Muarabulian, Senin (19/4/2021).
“Saat ini stok racun hama keoang mas di gudang kosong,” akunya.
Dia juga mengaku, bahwa untuk tahun 2021 ini anggaran untuk pembelian racun hama keong mas pada Dinas Tanaman Pangan dan hortikultura Batanghari sama sekali tidak ada dianggarkan dalam APBD Kabupaten.
Hal ini membuat kekhawatiran akan serangan hama keong mas yang masih menjadi ancaman terhadap benih padi sawah petani di Batanghari. Sebab, sampai saat ini serangan hama keong mas masih terjadi dan menyerang tanaman padi petani yang ada.
“Serangan hama keong mas itu masih terjadi, sementara stok racun hama keong mas di gudang tidak ada sama sekali,” katanya dengan nada khawatir.
Menyikapi hal itu, menurutnya cara tradiosional dengan meletakan daun ukuran lebar di area sawah menjadi alternatif. Keong akan berkumpul di bawah daun tersebut. “Nah, petani bisa memungut keong tersebut. Cara ini bisa dilakukan secara rutin,” terangnya.
“Selain membasmi keong mas dewasa, jangan lupakan telur keong. Ini juga harus dibasmi. Misalnya dengan memasang patok-patok kayu di sawah, lalu dipungut,” timpalnya.
Untuk diketahui pada tahun 2019 lalu, belasan hektar tanaman padi petani di wilayah desa Teluk Melintang, kecamatan Mersam diserang hama keong mas dan ulat penggulung daun.
Saat itu diakui Arifin, ketua kelompok tani Bungkal Ilir desa Teluk Melintang, kecamatan Mersam. Kata dia, saat itu tanaman padi di wilayah Teluk Melintang yang baru berusia 2-3 minggu mulai dimakan hama keong mas dan ulat penggulung daun. Di wilayahnya ada belasan hektar padi yang rusak. Hama keong memakan bagian batang padi.
Upaya yang dilakukan, kata dia, petani desa Teluk Melintang berburu keong emas untuk mencegah serangan meluas. Karena jika dibiarkan akan terus menggerogoti batang tanaman padi.
Disamping itu, pihaknya juga mengajukan bantuan obat-obatan pembasmi hama keong mas serta ulat penggulung daun serta tikus kepada Dians Tanaman Pangan dan Hortikultura Batanghari.
Arifin juga mengakui, bahwa saat itu luas lahan sawah yang ada di kelompok tani Bungkal Ilir desa Teluk Melintang ada sekitar 60 hektar. Dari luas tersebut, diperkirakan ada sekitar 16 hektar lahan sawah terancam serangan hama keong mas dan ulat penggulung daun.
