Hal tersebut ditegaskan Plt Bupati Merangin H Mashuri, ketika menerima tamu rombongan dari Kantor Bahasa Provinsi Jambi yang dipimpin kepala kantor tersebut Dr Sukardi Gau, di ruang kerja bupati Merangin, Senin (12/7/2021).
‘’Kegiatan ini merupakan bagian penting bagi regenerasi penutur sastra lisan. Sebetulnya banyak sastra lisan di Merangin, tapi perlu menggalian lebih dalam atas keberadaan sastra lisan tersebut di sejumlah desa lainnya,’’ ujar Plt Bupati.

Diakui Dr Sukardi Gau, untuk melesatarikan sastra lisan itu diperlukan usaha-usaha bersama  dalam konservasinya. ‘’Kami berterimakasih sekali atas dukungan yang diberikan Pemkab Merangin atas konservasi bahasa dan sastra daerah ini,’’ ujarnya.
Tujuan dari konservasi bahasa dan sastra daerah ini lanjut Sukardi, untuk mencari model pembinaan. Ketika model  pembinaan itu telah ditemukan, nanti bisa dimanfaatkan Pemkab Merangin sebagai usaha pelestarian bahasa dan sastra daerah.
Sedangkan Kepala Dinas Pendidikan dan Kabudayaan Merangin  melalui Kabid Kebudayaan M Said Usman mengatakan, sastra lisan ‘Ompek Ganjil Lima Gonok’ memang hampir punah dan dilupakan masyarakat.
‘’Atas dasar itu kita mencoba mengangkat kembali dan melesatarikannya, bekerja sama dengan Kantor Bahasa Provinsi Jambi, sehingga sastra lisan tersebut tidak punah berkat pelestarian yang dilakukan,’’ ujar M Said Usman.
