KUALA TUNGKAL – Sebuah terobosan berani dilakukan Pemerintah Kabupaten Tanjung Jabung Barat dalam menghadapi tantangan persampahan. Wakil Bupati Dr. H. Katamso, S.E., M.E., secara tegas menyatakan bahwa sampah tidak lagi boleh dipandang sebagai limbah yang menjijikkan, melainkan sebagai sumber daya ekonomi yang potensial. Pernyataan ini disampaikan saat menghadiri Bimbingan Teknis Pengurangan Sampah dan Pembinaan Kelompok Masyarakat di Hotel Masakini Syariah, Kamis (10/9/2026).
Di tengah pertumbuhan ekonomi daerah yang mencapai 5,21 persen, timbulan sampah di Tanjab Barat melonjak hingga 5,5 ton per hari. Ironisnya, baru sekitar 33 persen yang berhasil tertangani. Menyadari celah besar ini, Wabup Katamso mengajak seluruh masyarakat beralih mindset: dari sekadar "buang sampah" menjadi "mengelola aset".
Dari Limbah Menjadi Produk Bernilai: Kisah Sukses Paving Block
Wabup Katamso mencontohkan keberhasilan nyata di lapangan, di mana masyarakat lokal telah mengolah sampah anorganik menjadi paving block berkualitas. “Kami ingin pengelolaan sampah tidak hanya berhenti pada kegiatan pengumpulan dan pengangkutan, tetapi dapat dikembangkan menjadi bagian dari ekonomi sirkular. Sampah harus dipandang sebagai sesuatu yang masih memiliki nilai ekonomi,” ungkapnya dengan semangat.
Inovasi ini bukan hanya soal kebersihan, tapi soal pemberdayaan. Dengan mengubah sampah menjadi produk konstruksi, masyarakat mendapatkan penghasilan tambahan sambil menjaga lingkungan tetap bersih.
Dukungan Pusat & Infrastruktur Baru: Depo Sampah Terminal Kuala Tungkal
Untuk mendukung gerakan ini, Pemkab Tanjab Barat tidak bekerja sendiri. Dalam kegiatan tersebut, diserahkan bantuan motor roda tiga dari Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup untuk memudahkan operasional pengangkutan sampah tingkat komunitas.
Selain itu, Wabup Katamso mengumumkan rencana strategis pembangunan Depo Sampah di kawasan pintu masuk Kuala Tungkal, dekat terminal. Depo ini akan berfungsi sebagai tempat pengumpulan sementara (transfer depot) sebelum sampah diangkut ke Tempat Pemrosesan Akhir (TPA). Langkah ini dinilai krusial untuk meningkatkan efisiensi logistik pengangkutan. Pemkab juga tengah mengkaji skema kerja sama atau penyewaan kendaraan angkut untuk menjamin keberlanjutan layanan.

Anggota Komisi XII DPR RI Fraksi PKB Dapil Jambi, Elpisina, S.Sos., M.Si., yang hadir membuka kegiatan tersebut, menekankan bahwa isu sampah telah bergeser dari urusan kebersihan biasa menjadi isu lingkungan dan tata kelola pemerintahan yang kompleks.
“Persoalan sampah harus kita tangani secara bersama-sama. Pemerintah, masyarakat, dunia usaha maupun seluruh pemangku kepentingan harus memiliki kepedulian yang sama,” ujar Elpisina. Ia mengapresiasi inovasi Pemkab Tanjab Barat di tengah keterbatasan anggaran dan mendorong agar hasil bimtek ini benar-benar diterapkan di kehidupan sehari-hari warga.

Menutup arahannya, Wabup Katamso mengingatkan bahwa kebersihan lingkungan adalah cerminan peradaban masyarakat. “Persoalan sampah bukan hanya menjadi tanggung jawab pemerintah, tetapi merupakan tanggung jawab kita semua,” pungkasnya.
Dengan kombinasi antara inovasi teknologi sederhana (paving block), dukungan infrastruktur (depo & motor roda tiga), dan perubahan pola pikir masyarakat, Tanjung Jabung Barat optimis dapat menutup gap penanganan sampah dari 33% menuju target yang lebih tinggi. Sampah kini bukan lagi musuh, melainkan teman yang bisa menghasilkan "cuan" bagi kesejahteraan warga.
