JAMBI - Memperingati HUT Provinsi Jambi ke-64 tahun 2021 yang jatuh pada tanggal 6 Januari 2021, untuk pertamakalinya Pemprov Jambi menggelar upacara memperingati peristiwa sejarah pertempuran Simpang III Sipin, di Tugu Juang, Senin (4/1/2020). Danrem 042/Garuda Putih Brigjen TNI M Zulkifli menjadi Inspektur upacara peringatan pertempuran Simpang Tiga Sipin.
Sekretaris Daerah Provinsi Jambi, H. Sudirman. SH,MH mengatakan upacara ini dilaksanakan untuk mengenang pahlawan Jambi untuk mempertahankan kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia melawan penjajah pada agresi Belanda yang kedua. Peristiwa itu terjadi pada tanggal 29 Desember 1949.
"Sesungguhnya untuk mempertahankan kemerdekaan tidaklah mudah, butuh pengorbanan air mata dan darah. Oleh karena itu Provinsi Jambi menyambut baik gagasan ini, kita awali peringatan HUT Jambi 6 Januari dengan upacara di Tugu Juang," kata Sekda.
Dilanjutkan Sekda, diharapkan Tugu Juang ini menjadi momentum untuk tumbuh kembangnya masyarakat Provinsi Jambi, termasuk juga mencintai para pejuang baik yang sudah meninggal maupun yang masih hidup. "Hari ini juga kita reamikan pemanfaatan Tugu Juang sebagai warisan sejarah Provinsi Jambi," jelas Sekda.
Sementara itu sebelumnya dalam amanatnya Danrem 042/GAPUmenyatakan bahwa Tugu Juang atau Simpang Tiga Sipin ini merupakan salah satu bukti sejarah saat rakyat Jambi melawan Belanda, sebagian rakyat Jambi banyak yang gugur bertumpah darah. Brigjen TNI M Zulkifli mengatakan, secara nasional terjadi momentum terdapat peristiwa penting yang harus di kenang.
"Kawasan Simpang Tiga Sipin ini menjadi saksi bisu perjuangan rakyat Jambi melawan penjajahan,” ujar Danrem.
Dilanjutkan Danrem bahwa peringatan ini menjadi momentum bagi kita semua untuk melakukan intropeksi diri seluruh komponen bangsa dapat mewarisi nilai-nilai kepahlawanan dan melanjutkan cita-cita perjuangan mewujudkan NKRI yang adil dan makmur.
”Jangan biarkan NKRI yang telah dibangun oleh para pendiri bangsa ini tercerai berai, terprovokasi dan berkonflik. Mari kita bekerja untk membangun negeri ini,” katanya.
Selain Sekda dan Danrem, acara tersebut juga dihadiri oleh Forkopimda Provinsi Jambi dan para veteran.
Sebagai tanda mengenang jasa para perjuangan di Simpan Tiga Sipin, Danrem 042/Gapu meletakkan karangan bunga untuk menghormati jasa para pejuang yang gugur dalam peristiwa heroik pertempuran Simpang III Sipin. Pejabat yang hadir juga menyerahkan tali asih kepada veteran pejuang.
Tamu undangan yang hadir juga menyaksikan pertunjukan teatrikal kisah perjuangan para pahlawan berperang melawan penjajah Belanda.
